We are pleased to be involved in this year’s Legal Solution, a nationwide legal competition organised annually by the Geneva Law Association.
Law students compete in solving civil and commercial law cases prepared by experienced lawyers from participating law firms. The best teams get the chance to win a one-month paid internship at one of the participating law firms.
Our law firm contributed to the preparation and organisation of the competition. Klavdija Kek and Matevž Klobučar reviewed and evaluated the cases from the pre-competition part. The top ten teams, two of which we hosted at our premises: the Ius Regiones team and the LUV Law team, qualified for the final round, which took place on Friday and Saturday. The final cases were reviewed and evaluated by a jury composed of Klavdija Kek, Jernej Jeraj and Eva Bardutzky, followed by the teams’ oral arguments.
Both the Ius Regiones and LUV Law teams demonstrated a good knowledge of the law in their written work and successfully identified the key legal issues. In the end, the better team was Ius Regiones, consisting of: Martin Šuštaršič, Ben Kogovšek and Luka Kričej, who impressed with their excellent legal knowledge, rhetorical skills and argumentation. We look forward to welcoming all three members of the team for a one-month internship with us.
The competition ended with the announcement of the results and an evening gathering at the Ljubljana Town Hall, where there was plenty of good humour and relaxation, and musical performances were a welcome diversion.
The competition offers a unique opportunity for students to put their knowledge into practice, network in a less formal environment and engage with potential future colleagues. We are therefore happy to support such initiatives, as we believe that contact with practice already during studies is key to a successful transition to professional life – and to a mutually successful cooperation in the future.
