PFP Law was delighted to host the first Geneva Club’s “Tea Party with a Law Firm” of the year. We introduced our offices in Slovenia and Austria to our talented younger colleagues, and spent most of our time talking about how a law firm and a lawyer work in practice.
Our colleagues pointed out that working in a law firm is demanding but challenging and practically never boring. We also noted that the work has very little in common with what we see in American TV series and films. We touched on practical experience of writing contracts and representing clients in court, as well as what makes a good job application.
We also talked with the students about how a good lawyer should like to work with people, and how they need to be “curious” about what is important to their clients, but also willing to learn all the time. And, of course, that in this profession you often have to have strong nerves and learn to manage stress, which is much easier when you are surrounded by a good team.
We enjoyed the event, and the students’ response showed us that they enjoyed it too and that we don’t have to worry about the future of our profession (yet). Thank you to the Geneva Club for a well-run event and for broadening the horizons about the legal profession.
