Public Auctions of Movable and Immovable Property Now Held Online
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia shall establish, manage and maintain an online search engine for the sale of movable property, which will enable interested buyers (bidders) to search for items that are subject to sale in enforcement proceedings. This online search engine will include information on the type of property being sold, photographs of the property, date and time of the auction and website where the auction will be held. Anyone who registers for the auction no later than 2 hours before it starts will be able to participate. Once registered, the registered bidder shall obtain a unique identification code, which will allow the bidder to anonymously participate in the auction. The duration of the online auction shall be determined by the court.
The Supreme Court shall also establish an online search engine for immovable property sales. This engine will include information regarding the use of property (apartment, house, business premises, land, etc.), date of the auction and website where the auction will be held. Anyone who registers for the auction no later than 3 working days prior to it being held will be able to participate and shall also obtain a unique identification code allowing for anonymous participation in the auction. The online auction shall begin automatically at the set time. The beginning and duration of the online auction shall be determined by the court. Public auctions of immovable property shall only be held as online public auctions, save where the judge decides that a court hearing is more suitable. The judge may also order a court hearing in the event no bidders register for the first online public auction.
The above-mentioned changes will simplify the sale of confiscated property and afford bidders total anonymity when participating at auctions. No doubt the changes will also see the advent of new bidding strategies and reduce possibilities of direct impact on other bidders, which is commonplace in practice.
